Avigdor Gargy

Avigdor Gargy was born in Jerusalem to Malka and Yishayahu Garji. He lived in Tel-Aviv and in 1988 Avigdor moved to NY. From 1988 until 2010 he worked at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Avigdor was the Chairman of the Personal Advisory Committee of Metropolitan Museum of Art for 15 years and was behind many charity events.  Proud father of Michael, studied literature, philosophy, art history and cinema. Autodidact; Avigdor has interest and knowledge in many subjects such as; Afghanistan, as the member of the Garji dynasty, the 7 generations of the Rabbis and teachers in Afghanistan and Israel. He devoted most of his time and and energy for research and study of the history and heritage of the Afghan Jews, and has big collection of book, articles and data about, member in some Afghan group organizations to help the country and it's people.
